I’m Baaaaccckk!

Whew!  I’ve had a busy couple of weeks.  First, I enjoyed a wonderful spring break trip with the girls to Chicago to visit my mom (a.k.a. “Oma”).  She spoiled us, as usual.  The night I got back into town, Greg had gotten tickets for the John Mayer concert which was fabulous.  Two days later, my friend Mari took me to see the Black-Eyed Peas – an absolutely INCREDIBLE concert.  In fact, I think I can die now.  I saw John Mayer, the Black-Eyed Peas AND Ludacris all in one week.  Oh no, wait.  We have tickets to see Michael Buble in June.  Don’t take me just yet!

Finally, my in-laws came in for a nice, and productive, visit.  With their help we were able to get a lot of work done around the house.  They are good people, but they are a lot like the Energizer bunny.  I always need a few days to recuperate after a visit from Ann and Bruce.

So I’ve recuperated now and I’m back.  The night before a trip I am usually too wired to sleep, but the night before I left for Chicago I slept….and I had the strangest dream involving Jason Mraz.  Strange in that he isn’t even on my top 5 list.  I’m not going to reveal exactly who is on my top 5 list, but suffice it to say that I have a thing for vampires, singer/songwriters, rappers, CNN journalists and presidential advisers.  And if you can put that list together you win a prize!  Just kidding.  This isn’t one of those crazy giveaway blogs.  Sorry.

I awoke from this dream at 5 a.m. and then laid there in bed thinking about my top 5 which got me to thinking of course about Greg’s top 5.  And since I was taking the kids with me and leaving him alone in the house for 4 days, I started to wonder about what he might do by himself.  All alone in the house.  Just Greg and the dogs.  And here is what I came up with.

1.)  He would spend each day carefully planning and dreaming about what he would be making himself for dinner each night, which would probably involve some grilling.

2.)  He would drink beer and watch non-stop NCAA basketball, ESPN, and any other sporting event he damn well wanted to watch.

3.)  He would sit with his butt firmly planted in the same spot on the couch playing on-line poker until he got so sleepy he would drag himself up to bed.

4.)  He would kiss and talk baby-talk to his favorite son, Barkley, and even let him sleep on my side of the bed with his head on my pillow.

Sounds wild and exciting doesn’t it?

As it turns out, he did all of this exactly as I imagined it, but he was smart and did two more things for me.  He did all the laundry and folded it.  And he got me tickets to John Mayer.  Somehow he always manages to redeem himself.
